Richard Branson bids to run GP services Lobby the Virgin Healthcare Seminar in Bristol Wednesday 19th March, 7pm, at the Hilton Hotel, top of Gloucester Road. Please find attached details of the call for this lobby from UNISON Avon Mental Health branch. Other NHS supporters and union branches will be there with their banners, including UNITE Bristol Health Service branch.
Similar lobbies have met the Virgin roadshows in Nottingham, Manchester
and Sheffield. As the resolution attached explains, we protest
because we believe creeping privatisation of the NHS is against the
interests of patients and staff. Also that corporations like Virgin
Healthcare have nothing to contribute to health services apart from
concern for shareholders' profits.
Local campaigns The struggle continues against the proposal to build a private surgical centre in north Bristol. Meanwhile current plans propose a loss of at least 283 acute NHS beds for the area.
